80 dogs, 1 charter flight and a racing family’s fresh start – here’s how we helped deliver NZ’s largest greyhound relocation.
In April, a specially chartered flight touched down at Toowoomba carrying 80 greyhounds from New Zealand’s Goldstar Racing kennel – one of the country’s premier racing teams.
It was New Zealand’s largest greyhound air-lift operation —and Wymap Group was proud to be part of making it happen.
The move was sparked by the New Zealand Government’s decision to ban greyhound racing.
So for Goldstar’s Steve, Riley and Bonnie Evans, it was time to find a new home across the Tasman. They chose Queensland and got to work on the logistics. That’s where we came in.

Turning complex logistics into a seamless journey
Relocating 80 dogs across international borders is no small feat.
“It has been a much bigger move than we anticipated,” said Riley Evans.
With Wymap’s logistics hubs across Australia and New Zealand, we were well-positioned to manage the operation from end to end.
Working closely with the Evans family, we developed a tailored plan prioritising the dogs’ safety and welfare.
We mapped out the optimal routing, timings and load plans – every detail considered.
To this end, we sourced a suitable charter flight, coordinated with the airline and animal handlers, and handled ground logistics from Christchurch to Toowoomba and final delivery at the new property.

A move like this involves many teams, including:
- The K9HQ team for the dogs’ pre-flight health checks
- Government authorities at Christchurch, Brisbane and Toowoomba Wellcamp
- Terminal Handling Teams at both airports
- Road transport teams
Behind every move is a story – this one was about helping a racing family safeguard their dogs and their livelihood.
